See the trendy loft apartments built inside former Bethlehem Lutheran Church

GRAND RAPIDS, MI - Reminders that a house of worship once occupied the apartments at 616 Lofts on Prospect are everywhere and sometimes overwhelming.

Large hammer-beam rafters that once hung high above parishioners at Bethlehem Lutheran Church now appear as over-sized accent pieces in the bedrooms and bathrooms of the 22 apartments in the 80-year-old Gothic Revival building at 253 Prospect Ave. NE.

Stained glass windows that once inspired worshipers now splash light across the apartment floors. Soaring arches that once framed the altar now form huge plaster design elements.
